Long Timee...

Its been nearly two months since i have written a blog. I blame it to the hard work i have been doing :d .. but all hard work did pay off.. Got one of the most interesting technology project running in rural Pakistan (Larkana to be exact) using POS devices to capture milk purchase information...hmmm i should start calling it POP (point of purchase) ... I only hope that it runs successfully, so that I can move on to the final version. Will give you guyz an overview on the technological aspect of the project after in a few days..

The all expo book fair is back in town, with cheap and expensive books..i still cant figure out how some sellers manage to sell an HBR book for 300Rs. hmmm.. no wonder Paksistanis are innovative..

Rocket blasting in South Asia

yesterday, India launched its first rocket in space, becoming the first south asian country to do so. I am sure, every indian will be proud of it. On the other end, US fired a missle in Pakistan madhrasah killing 8 students. This forces me to think, what is wrong with this country? what has caused such mess? is it our leader, or is the people it self. Pakistanis and Indians are not much different in terms of culture and haibbit. One thing which i have seen is that Indians are for India, but are Paksitanis for Pakistan?

karachi goverment..a bunch of bastards

I just can't believe it..the CDGK (city district government Karachi), declared all the major parks in the city as no Women area...now now ...is it because you want to avoid any misbehaving with women (families I should say as no one comes alone during eid) or, is it because you want to cash in from the large numbers of labours working in the city...hmmmm...

The three -letter Festival -- shishh...

A lot of articles have amused me over the years, but i have read nothing more rubbish than what Rishad wrote in the Oct (2-8) edition of the Review, published by the dawn every week. His article 'the three letter festival' in my opinion is absolutely ridiculous. He starts of by saying, that eid is back to haunt us? Sir, a lot of Muslims around the world including me actually wait for this day to come, not because we meet our relatives and get eidii.., but because of the joy after fasting through Ramadan, now I believe you would not know that, would you?. Eid is a colorful celebration, and this can be seen in every Muslim country around the world. In your article, you have discussed your personal schedule of eid day, by sleeping the whole day, meeting your un wanted relatives, snatching on eidee, bearing annoying neighbours, and watching television. But do you really think that every Muslim around the world has the same schedule as yours, do you really think they spend the day as similar to the way you spend? Yes, I do agree that Eid is an economic burden to the poor, but then again which festival is not? diwali, Christmas, Chinese new year...? .. and Eid Sir is not to blame for this...but other things aree...

The princess and the playboy..

A couple of weeks back, our beloved president, Mr. Zardari had a flirty moment with the gorgeous Ms Palin, the vice president nominee for McCain camp. When I asked my friends about there opinion on this, I got a mix response, some saying it showed a more softer side of the country (not to forget the president represents the country), others said that being a head off an Islamic state, the president should have shown respect.  Personally, I agree with the later.  Our Constitution states that the country is Islamic republic of Pakistan, and the president who ever is elected from the full Parliament needs to be a Muslim.  Being a Muslim, it is important that the person respect the values on how to treat a woman.  But again, watching Zardari, reminded me of this old BBC documentary I watched when i was a kid, The Princess and the Playboy .

Pakistan 9/11????

The Islamabad bombing, a cowardly act by the so called Muslims warriors who thing that the religion they follow is the true Islam, and what they are doing is what is right...after the Marriott hotel bombing local politicians claimed that this is the 9/11 of Pakistan. Is it? I remeber after 9/11 (in America) the entire country was in shock and mourn. Every American citizen wanted revenge and bring the cuplrits to justice. Are our people ready to do it, where the one who have bomed the hotel are from the same country as we belong. Is it an external fight or an internal fight? I personally beleive that america knew who where the enemy, where as we even though , knowing cant do any thing, after all the one who are bombing us where initally made by us during the soviet invasion of Afghanistan.

what you see is not what is actualy there..

hi guyz..its been a few weeks since i have written a b log, mostly because i was tied up with my project, trying my best to do a service for the country and also my appraisal :-) .anyways coming back to more serous matters.i was skipping through various channels today after iftar and came across a report on CNN about Saudi TV channel and a clerk who is saying rubbish against the soap operas which are made. Now, being a liberal person I agree that people should have freedom to watch what they want, however CNN was trying to show that the Saudi people are more interested in watching Lebanese or Turkish (dub ted in Arabic) operas cause they have a more sex appeal where as the one shown on Saudi television, portray a men dominated society with them beating there women. Now now, CNN if I show an episode of bold and the beautiful where the guy slaps her lady for sleeping with another man or shouts at her 16 year old daughter for getting pregnant, what would you say?

democracy ?

its been a week since president mushi has stepped down. and the internet as well as news channels are full with articles and reviews. some calling him a hero other a dictator and the more moderate comments are that he was a man with a mix legacy. When mushi took over the affairs of the country, he was welcomed as a hero. some politicians called it a disaster, a zia regime back in affairs. but mushi proved to be different then his previous counterpart. rather then being a mullah he tried to propagate the more modern side of Pakistan. he tried to show the world that we are no different. we are same as you all, we enjoy movies , we enjoy music and we do have pet dogs. but i guess a lot of people did not like this concept and eventually after nearly a decade long rule his tenure did came to an end. so my question is , do we really want democracy in pak?. i was watching our pm making a speech in the national assembly saying that a weak democracy is better then dictatorship. i disagree with this statement, what if democracy jus does not work? will we still stick with it? what if turning the table i.e. a single rule makes things work?

A case of exploding mangoes ..

Hanif's books, a case of exploding mangoes is certainly a master piece. One of the best novels i have read from a pakistani author. The way he captures the last days of Zia and defines the scene around it is amazing. The best part is a two pager on the point when Sigri is being taken by the ISI cheif and the author explains the scene around him. He exactly captures the way Pakitan is , they way the people of Pakistan are. The ironic part is I have been reading the book during turmoil in Pakistan, with impeachment of president musharaf and the indepednece being celebreated today. Not much has changes since the time of zia, other then new channels and some fancy stuff..

Coming back to the author, hats of Hanif. I will be one eager reader waiting for your next master piece..
